This was to be an elegant design influenced by the clients love of Scandinavian design. This project transformed a boxy closed off layout into a bright open plan living space more suitable for all the cooking and entertaining done by the family.

The brief was to enhance a modern house built in the early 2000's by creating a larger kitchen and living space for a family with two teenage kids. The outcome was a light an airy open plan space with tonnes of space.

As part of a whole house refurbishment the project included the first floor bathroom and the demolition of the existing side utility. A link was created through the existing triple garage which was part converting to create a stylish self-contained guest suite.

Located within a conservation area and requiring conservation consent Chestnut Cottage was an extended part timber framed historic cottage suffering from rot in its main structure. Major remedial works were required and the opportunity was taken to double the size of and modernise the ground floor of the property.

This project connected a previous rather long and dysfunctional 1970’s side extension to this mid war house. The side extension was linked to the existing kitchen and utilities by creating a new much larger zoned light and airy family room. This space including a kitchen, dining and seating area gave three times as much space for day to day living and entertaining.

This 1960’s house has had one owner since it was first built. When a new family took ownership it needed complete refurbishment. It was extended out to the side taking advantage of permitted development rights to create a new family room, top lit with extra-large rooflights.
